Marunda Flat Broker Arrested

Allegedly doing fraud during processing ownership of unit in Marunda Flat, Cilincing, North Jakarta, a broker named Rio Lasarus Jambormias (34) is arrested by Cilincing Metro Sector Police. Because of his action, Jambormias is charged under Article 378 of Criminal Code (KUHP) with sanction five years in prison.

Cilincing Metro Sector Police Criminal Detective Unit Chief Iptu Andry Suharto explained that the arrestment of Jambormias, who is resident of RT 05/015, Kalibaru Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-District, North Jakarta, started from report filed by Ismilayati (33).

To the police, the victim admitted that she was promised by the offender could live in the flat with a condition that she must pay millions of rupiah. To make sure the victim, the offender gave a copy of flat contract agreement letter. He also claimed had close relation with the former Head of Area 1 Flat Management Unit (UPRS), Jati Waluyo.

“After we checked, none of those were true and the letter was just a deceiver to deceptive his victim. That’s why we directly do arrestment,” stated Suharto, Thursday (9/10).

Based on the investigation results, Suharto continued, 200 people had become offender’s victims with the same modus. To get a flat unit, the offenders asked fee for Rp 1-3 million. From that amount, the money of 70 victims has been returned.

Head of Area 1 UPRS, Maharyadi, said the fraud was revealed after a group of people came to Marunda Flat C Cluster on Tuesday (10/7) to stay in units at Block 3 and 4. At that time, they brought copies of certificates given by the offender.

“Block 3 and 4 are still being repaired. Besides, the units there are intended for Muara Baru residents listed in the program. As a result, those people were held by our officers,” he uttered.

Then, Maharyadi continued, a representative of those people was asked to come to UPRS office at Jatibaru, Central Jakarta, to clarify the certificates. After being checked, it was known that the certificates were fake.

“The certificates they brought were only copies and the data is not in our system. Thus, our officers directly coordinated this matter with the police,” he told.
